COMMON QUESTIONS
Open the app, enter your callsign (any name you want), and either type a wire name to create or join one, or tap a wire from your recents or favorites. If someone shared a wire link with you, tap it and the app will open and offer to join.
Make sure your phone isn't silenced or on Do Not Disturb. Then check that nobody on the wire is locally muted — a purple speaker icon next to their name means you've muted them. Tap it to unmute. If audio still isn't coming through, try leaving and rejoining the wire. If the problem continues, email us with your iPhone model and iOS version.
Over-N-Out needs microphone permission to transmit. If you denied it on first launch, open Settings → Over-N-Out → Microphone and turn it on. Restart the app afterward.
Tap the CC button in the top-right of any wire. The first time you enable it, your phone will ask permission for speech recognition — say yes. Captions appear on screen as people talk. Speech recognition runs entirely on your device; audio is never sent anywhere.
On a busy wire, press and hold the scope icon next to a person's name to transmit only to them. Everyone else on the wire hears nothing while you're laser-beaming. Release to stop. It's one-way — if they want to reply privately, they tap their own scope on you.
Tap LEAVE in the top-right corner. Your wire name stays in the field so you can rejoin quickly. To fully close the app, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and flick Over-N-Out away.
No. Anyone can pick any callsign — it's like a handle on a CB radio. Treat names you see on a wire as informal. If you're using Over-N-Out for a team, agree on naming conventions ahead of time (e.g. "Mike-1," "Mike-2").

PRIVACY
